Proposition 141
Prohibits state and local governments from imposing taxes or fees based on the number of miles a car has traveled, and from enacting rules to monitor or limit the number of miles a vehicle can travel without the person’s consent. Right now, Arizona uses a gas tax set at 18 cents per gallon to support infrastructure and road construction. This excludes electric vehicles, which pay $0 in gas taxes. Meanwhile, Arizona's roads continue to deteriorate. States across the country have begun to implement mileage taxes to account for the use of electric vehicles. Prop 141 would BAN the use of these mileage taxes.
- YES
- A YES vote prohibits state and local governments from taxing vehicle miles traveled, inhibiting our ability to support construction of roads and infrastructure.
- NO
- A NO vote allows state and local governments to tax vehicle miles traveled, including electric vehicles and potentially finding new ways to raise revenue to support rebuilding roads and infrastructure.
Keep Arizona Blue Student Coalition recommends voting NO on Proposition 141 in Arizona.
